The short version
- MartialArtsRobots.com is a parody, made for fun.
- It is not a martial arts course, class, lesson or training program, and it is not martial arts, self-defense, fitness, medical, safety or legal advice.
- Don't copy the moves, don't kick or strike anyone, and don't rely on anything on this website.
- If you choose to do any physical activity anyway, you do it at your own risk.
- Want to learn a martial art for real? Find a qualified instructor in person and check with a doctor first.
1. Parody and entertainment only
MartialArtsRobots.com (the "Site") is a work of parody and entertainment, run by its operator ("we", "us"). Everything on the Site is provided purely for amusement. That includes the 3D animation, the robots Tori and Uke, the kick and punch descriptions, the "robot notes", the robot belt ranks, Tori's daily routine, the telemetry numbers, the sounds and the rest of the text. The Site makes fun of the idea of learning martial arts from robots. It does not actually teach martial arts.
The Site uses the look and vocabulary of a martial arts school, such as lessons, steps, belts, a sensei and a dojo, as part of the joke. Those words do not mean that any teaching, training, grading or coaching is being offered.
2. Not instruction, and not professional advice
Nothing on the Site is, or should be treated as:
- martial arts, combat sports, fighting or self-defense instruction, coaching or training;
- a course, class, curriculum, syllabus, lesson plan or grading program;
- fitness, exercise, sports, health, medical, physiotherapy, rehabilitation or nutrition advice;
- safety advice of any kind;
- legal advice, including about self-defense or the use of force.
Using the Site does not create an instructor-student, coach-athlete, doctor-patient or any other professional or advisory relationship between you and us.
3. The moves are not accurate
The techniques shown are robot interpretations made for a cartoon animation. They are simplified, exaggerated, stylized and timed for the camera. In places they are physically impossible or unsafe for a human body. Robot joints, motors, balance systems and materials behave nothing like human bones, muscles, tendons and ligaments.
Real techniques vary between martial arts, styles, schools, instructors and individual bodies. The Japanese and Korean names on the Site are borrowed loosely to describe the moves and may not match how any particular style uses them. Descriptions of how a technique "works", where its power comes from, or what mistakes to avoid are part of the entertainment and may be incomplete or wrong. Do not use anything on the Site as a reference for correct technique.
4. Don't try this at home, or anywhere else
Please do not copy, practice or attempt the moves shown on the Site. Never kick, punch, strike, spar with or otherwise use a technique on another person or an animal based on anything you saw here.
Martial arts and other physical activities carry a real risk of injury. That includes sprains, strains, torn ligaments, dislocations, falls, fractures, joint, eye and head injuries and, in rare cases, serious or permanent harm or death. Some people also have health conditions that make exercise unsafe for them. If you want to learn a martial art, do it in person with a qualified instructor, in a suitable and supervised setting, with proper equipment. Before you start, ask a doctor or another qualified health professional whether it is appropriate for you.
5. Assumption of risk
If you choose to do any physical activity while or after using the Site, despite this Disclaimer, you do so voluntarily and entirely at your own risk. You are solely responsible for your own safety, for the safety of the people, animals and property around you, and for the consequences of your actions. To the fullest extent permitted by law, we are not responsible for any injury, illness, loss or damage that results.
6. Not self-defense training
The Site will not prepare you to defend yourself or anyone else, and nothing on it tells you when force is lawful or appropriate. If you are in danger, move to a safe place and contact your local emergency services.
7. Fictional robots, fictional numbers, fictional belts
Tori, Uke and every other robot on the Site are fictional characters. Any resemblance to real robots, people or products is coincidental.
The "foot speed", "impact" and any other figures shown by the dojo are invented robot telemetry calculated from the animation. They do not describe any real measurement. Do not compare them with people, use them as targets, or rely on them in any way.
The robot belt ranks are jokes. Nobody awards or recognizes them, they confer no rank, grade, qualification or skill, and they must not be presented as a credential of any kind.
8. No affiliation or endorsement
The Site is independent. It is not affiliated with, sponsored by, endorsed by or connected to any martial arts school, club, dojo, dojang, gym, style, federation, association, governing body, competition, instructor or athlete, or any company or trademark owner. Names of martial arts, styles and techniques are used only to describe the moves, and any trademarks belong to their owners.
9. Cartoon violence
The Site shows cartoon robots kicking and punching each other, with sparks and flying debris. It does not encourage, endorse or glorify violence against people, animals or property. Uke is a robot, and Uke is fine.
10. Flashing lights, motion and sound
The animation contains brief bright flashes, sparks, rapid camera movement and screen shake, as well as optional sound effects that include loud impacts. If you are sensitive to flashing light or motion, for example if you have photosensitive epilepsy, migraines or a vestibular condition, you can:
- press Pause to stop the animation;
- turn on your device's reduced-motion setting, which makes the dojo start on a still frame without camera sway, shake or flashes;
- stop using the Site straight away if you feel unwell.
Sound is off until you turn it on. Keep your volume at a comfortable level, especially with headphones.
11. Children
The Site is meant for a general audience, but children should use it with a parent or guardian. That adult should make sure the child understands that it is a cartoon and not something to copy on friends, siblings or pets.
12. No warranties, no reliance
The Site and everything on it are provided "as is" and "as available", without warranties of any kind. We do not promise that the Site is accurate, complete, reliable, safe, suitable for any purpose, available or free of errors, and we accept no responsibility for any decision you make or action you take based on it.
The full warranty disclaimer and limitation of liability are in the Terms of Use, and they apply to this Disclaimer too. Nothing in this Disclaimer limits any liability that cannot be limited or excluded under the law that applies to you. This Disclaimer continues to apply after you stop using the Site and after the Site closes.
13. Your device and browser
The 3D dojo and its sounds are produced by your browser and your device's graphics and audio hardware, not by us. How they look, sound and run depends on your browser, device and settings, and they may differ from one device to another. Some devices may run the dojo slowly, get warm or use more battery, especially during long sessions. Pause stops the animation at any time.
We do not promise that the Site or its files are free of errors or harmful components. To the extent permitted by law, we accept no liability for damage to your device, its software or its data that results from using the Site.
14. Other websites
Where the Site links to another website, such as our hosting provider's privacy policy, we are not responsible for that website's content, availability or policies.
15. Changes to this Disclaimer
We may update this Disclaimer at any time. The date at the top shows when it last changed. The version that applies is the one published at martialartsrobots.com. If you keep using the Site after a change, you accept the updated Disclaimer.
